PHILOSOPHY OF MIND

  1. A video based on Daniel Dennett's landmark paper, "Where Am I?Part 1Part 2Part 3 (each part is about 10 min) - this "fictional" video featuring Daniel Dennett features a top-secret experiment in which Dennett's brain is removed from his body, yet connected to his body via radio transmitters/receivers.  In the opening sequence Dennett's brainless body takes a look at his body-less brain and, in an attempt to clear up any confusion, Dennett names his body-less brain "Yorick", his brainless body, "Hamlet".  So where is Dennett then? (btw by the time you get to part 3 things get even more complicated - a "computer-duplicate brain is made of Dennett's original brain which he labels, "Hubert"; Dennett is then given the choice of running his new body (Fortinbras - the old body was killed by radiation) from his original brain, Yorick, or the duplicate brain, "Hubert." OK, so NOW where is Dennett?
